Dear friends,
The Firenze Marathon Directing Committee is worried about the high levels of Covid-19 contagion. Authorities recommend that everyone remains home, meaning that it will be impossible for many of you to participate in the Conad Green Half Marathon that we had announced would take place at the end of November.
We adapted to organize the event, but now we cannot continue our optimism. Even though we had planned to follow all the government’s norms to ensure the event’s security, we do not think it is enough. We are all worried given the over 20,000 new cases every day. Any large gathering, even with the use of precautions and masks could threaten the health of others, as well as our social and economic futures!!!!
That is why we have decided to CANCEL the Conad Green Half Marathon, a national race organized by the Firenze Marathon, that was to take place in the Cascine park on November 29, 2020.
We’d like to thank those groups and organizations that worked during the past few weeks to help us organize the event: thank you to the city of Florence’s administration, and our sponsors, including Conad, the title sponsor, Enervit and San Benedetto. They have been our partners for a long time, providing refreshments for many of the races we organize.
We would also like to thank the athletes that already registered for the event. We will be in touch with them directly to communicate the annulment of the registration.
We also thank the many volunteers who had already committed their availability to support the event’s organization.
To all of the runners, we’d like to confirm our volition to continue providing superior quality service in all of our future events.
