Florence Marathon 2022, presented the official medal that goes to the finishers
Official presentation through the social channels of Firenze Marathon of the medal that goes to the finishers of the 2022 edition of the Firenze Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, November 27. The object, expected and desired because it represents the symbol and the memory of the effort made by each participant and the joy of having completed the 42 km and 195 meters of the race, was made for the third consecutive year by Susanna Alisi, Florentine designer owner of Alisi Gioielli, located in Via Porta Rossa in the center of Florence, a few hundred meters from Piazza Duomo, where the race starts and ends.
The medal of the 2022 edition, of a particular shape, is a union between the colors of Florence, in the evocative places touched by the track and those of the flag of Peace, topic whose importance does not need underlining. The Medal of Peace, so it was defined by the same artist who designed it.
Retracing the route of the race – the description of the genesis – this time we focused on details of buildings that referred to the 7 colors of Peace.
We start from the lily: the emblem of Florence. Continuing downwards we have 7 horizontal spaces corresponding to the 7 colors of the flag of Peace that represent portions of churches, details of enlarged buildings of Florence, windows of historic buildings, marble decorations.
Purple: the lily.
Blue: the church of Santa Croce (with its star of David).
Light Blue: like the sky and the river that passes under the Ponte Vecchio. Green: the white and green marble of Prato, facade of the Baptistery of Florence and the Duomo itself.
Yellow (gold): a detail of the Baptistery, the Gate of Paradise.
Orange: the ashlar (typical material) that surrounds the mullioned windows of Palazzo Vecchio, seat of the City of Florence.
Red: the Dome of the Duomo.
We have visibly sided against the war and are forced to live it passively.
So the union between PEACE & ART, where our architecture has always been so close to the classical and aesthetic canons strengthens our stability and inner peace and also puts us on the right dimension, balanced and aesthetically beautiful. The visual communication of the medal is made by an unusual rectangular shape with a circle above which is placed the lily, the emblem of Florence. Continuing downwards there is a sequence of spaces representing portions of churches, details of enlarged buildings of Florence, windows of historic buildings, decorations of marble, with the intertwining of colors, as mentioned, of peace.
